Kerala Prawns Fry

5 Comments Published April 24, 2014 Updated February 5, 2025

Kerala prawn fry

Usually I refrain from cooking prawns. It’s not that I hate them but because of the fact that cleaning them eats up an awful amount of valuable time. I know you’ll agree with me.

However, on the other side, I’d love some succulent fried prawns for dinner. And I’d prefer to buy fresh prawns with shells intact rather than the pre-cleaned ones. For some reason, they don’t look “fresh” to me. Having said that, you are welcome to use pre-cleaned prawns in this recipe.

  • 2 tablespoon chilly powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon ginger paste
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

  • Give a quick stir.
  • Voila! It’s ready! Moist and succulent fried prawns.
  • Serve hot with rice or chappathi.

These look tempting enough to turn me from a vegetarian to a fish eater (prawn eater) at least!!!

Yes, it is. But you can reduce the amount of chilly powder and just add a bit of paprika for the color.
